Welcome to Artizan Studio

the web site dedicated to promoting the artwork of Rob Steinke.

I trained as a saddler and harness maker with Keitth Luxford, saddler to H.M. The Queen, during which time I attended Cordwainers Leather & Design College, London and exhibited at the London Design Centre.

Since then I have contributed to numerous equestrian magazines and written and illustrated 6 books on my craft.   Drawing the illustrations for the books was the entry point for myself as an artist and this has led me to become a fulltime registered artist here in Ireland.

In addition to selling my paintings I facilitate art workshops including Art in Action at Townley Hall, Slane, Ireland's largest art event.  I have filmed a DVD "Paint with Rob" and my "Acrylic Painting" video has had over 150,000 hits on YouTube and been used by the B.B.C. Digital World Service.

I have sold my paintings at many exhibitions including a solo at The Crypt Gallery, St. Martin-in-the-Fields, Trafalgar Square, London and at the prestigious Art Ireland in Dublin.  (A fuller list of my exhibitions can be found on the Exhibitions & C.V. page of this site). 

My paintings are in collections worldwide and have been bought by the Irish government for the President and Minister of State to present as State Gifts to ambasadors of other countries.

I live with Moira beneath the Iron Mountains in the Northwest of Ireland where in addition to the studio we run our own private museum,The Museum of the Master Saddler.   Our hobbies are mainly centered around our horses and miniature ponies whose activities include showing, jumping, carriage driving and long distance riding in the beautiful Irish countryside.
